Mixed Media

Are you a mixed media scrapper?

I am not.  And not because I do not WANT to be (because honestly I LOVE the look of other people's work) but because I am so OCD about messes on my layouts that by the time I pull out any paint or ink I am already rethinking the layout.  I think that is why hybrid scrapping fits me so well.  I can change everything I want with a stroke of one key.  Paint, well paint is forever.  Once you swipe it across your page you either go with it or you trash it.

I absolutely adore Donna Downey.  She is the first person that pops into my head when I think of mixed media artists.  I love the way she is so free with her creations.  I really admire her ability to just "go with it".  My friend Nicole is also very much like Donna as a mixed media artist.  I have never before seen someone that can just crank out the layouts and have them be outstanding.  Nicole is completely her own person and I love her style.  She currently writes for "Ready, Set, Create!" and they are SO extremely lucky to have her.

Back to the subject at hand; mixed media.  One of the challenges at ScrapStreet's Monthly Crop is a "paint" dare.  Ok here is the deal.  I have lots of paint.  I love how the bottles look and they totally inspire my work with their bright "scrap me!" colors.  I hardly use them, LOL!  Poor little bottles of inspiration.  BUT I used them tonight.  I actually PAINTED on a layout.  This is completely odd to me.  And it STILL looks weird to me.  I will post the layout tomorrow when I scan it and you can let me know what you think.

OK out of here for tonight!  If you get a chance, check out those two AWESOME artists and break out your paints!

Smootches!

Can't wait to see! LOVE the new blog look too! Hope you and yours are doing well. Miss chatting with you!

Hi Bri!!!! Thought I would stop by this lovely blog thing of yours that I keep hearing about and check it out. Your work is beautiful. Wish I could figure out how to get these hooves of mine to work to give this scrapping thing a try, maybe after Christmas. Also wanted to let you know that I have been thinking long and hard about what to have the big guy send you for Christmas, so I hope you are being good!!!
